St. George Island Plantation
St. George Plantation is a private, gated community located on the west end of St. George Island, and is considered the premier gated community along the Forgotten Coast. Offering a special balance of nature and wildlife, pristine beaches and beautiful homes, social activities and solitude, the Plantation occupies the six westernmost miles of St. George Island and consists of 1,200 acres. There are approximately 900 home sites, upon which about 500 single-family homes have been built. While half of those homes serve as vacation rentals, the other half are primary residences and second homes. The Plantation is protected by a 24/7 private security staff, and its own fully equipped fire station. The 10,000-square foot clubhouse offers a conference / event area and a fitness center. Other amenities in the Plantation are two large swimming pools, three tennis courts, a kayak launch site, miles of paved walking and bike paths, 26 over-dune boardwalks to the pristine beaches, and a 3200-foot paved landing strip with tie-downs. St. George Plantation is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2017, and has won recognition as a Florida Community of Excellence in 2014 and 2015.
